Today we are happy and proud to announce the launch of SAM (Smart Asset Management), a new solution for making the work with SAP PM and CS easier. It is a mobile solution that is built on the currently best technologies on client, middleware and backend.
One way or another, we are mobilizing SAP’s plant maintenance and customer service since 2002. NetWeaver Mobile and MAM (Mobile Asset Management) have been the first generation of solutions. In 2010 we introduced MOMENTUM, a solution developed on top of the Sybase Unwired Platform - we sold it to a large German software vendor in 2011. Since 2012 we mainly implemented the SAP Work Manager, the latest generation of SAP’s mobile field service offering. Now in 2016 we once again launch our own solution - Smart Asset Management or short SAM.
SAP and Apple – there is a lot a buzz around their joined press release from yesterday. But what is behind it? I think at the moment this is mainly marketing. Successful marketing, I have to say because everybody is talking about it.
But what is the reality? Aren’t we in a pretty good shape when it comes to running SAP on iOS devices already today?
Writing software sometimes can be a long progress - especially when we talk about distributed architectures. But after the software is done, there is more to be done before the users can get the software into their hands. Testing, documentation, training and in case of mobile applications, the submission to the app stores.
We recently developed a platform independent app based on SAP in the backend, SQL Anywhere/MobiLink on the middleware and Apache Cordova/UltraLite on the client. This app was submitted to the stores from Apple, Microsoft and Google. In this blog we summarize what requirements there are for each App Store - accounts, texts, graphics and more
